How long have you been at it? Started working with Tri-state Rescue Team in 1996,
Current: Formed H&H Rescue in 2002.
Training: MFR (medical first responder) certified
Experience: 13 years including all MHRA races since 2002, the SO/J Nationals in Dayton, OH in 2005 and the SO/J Nationals in Grass Lake, MI.
Memorable Experiences: Voted MHRA Member of the Year in 2005
Hobbies: Hunting and fishing.
Other: Al says he likes the boat races because the water is always so warm (which we seriously question...). Al also added that he feels like he is part of a big family at the races.
Rich Hays
How long have you been at it? Started with Tri-state rescue 1997 (Pennsylvania) after Al told me I could just go and watch! All I thought I was doing was helping to drive, but I've been hooked every since.
Current: Formed H&H Rescue in 2002
Training: MFR (medical first responder) certified
Experience: 12 years including all MHRA races since 2002. Worked the Mod Nationals In Alexandria, KY in 2001 with Tri-state Rescue, the SO/J Nationals in Dayton, OH and the SO/J Nationals in Grass Lake, MI.
Memorable Experiences: Voted MHRA Member of the Year in 2005
Hobbies: Photography, hunting, fishing, bicycle riding and my kids.
Other: I like racing for the same reasons as Al, I feel like part of a big happy family. I also love to be there if anyone needs help.
Brian (Taco) Vanderlaan
How long have you been at it? Joined H&H in 2007
Training: MFR (medical first responder) certified.
Experience: 3 years working all MHRA races and the 2009 SO/J Nationals in Grass Lake, MI.
Hobbies: He enjoys working around the house (I think his wife made him say that).
Other: Brian states he liked the idea that even though in his first year he was treated as family. He likes the very friendly competition of the racers.
